The Healing Process
Recovery after a combined deep plane facelift and eyelid surgery is generally smooth and predictable. During the first week, swelling, bruising, and tightness are most noticeable, particularly around the eyes and neck. Most patients rest at home and resume light activities within several days. By two to three weeks, the majority of visible swelling has improved and patients typically feel comfortable returning to social events or work. Mild firmness or numbness gradually fades over the following weeks. Over the next several months, the tissues soften and settle. Fat grafting blends naturally, scars fade, and contours refine. While early improvement is seen quickly, the most polished and natural appearance is usually appreciated between three and six months, with continued subtle improvement up to a year.
